Singular expressions
Résonance Vineyard
Memory Wines
Vineyards in Burgundy have hundreds of vintages to taste and inform current winemakers; the youth and unknown of the Willamette Valley is part of what makes it so exciting. In an effort to build our understanding of the terroir and region, the Memory Wines were born. Starting with our first vintage in 2013, our winemakers have put aside one barrel each from the oldest, most established blocks of the Résonance Vineyard. At first there was no defined plan for this wine, it was done purely out of a sense of experimentation and exploration. As the bottle rested in our cellar, it quickly became clear that they were something special – singular, distinctive expressions of the Résonance terroir, shaped by the unique conditions of each vintage.
With each release of the Memory Wines, we invite our Members to learn and explore with us.
BLOCK FIVE
Pommard, perhaps the most Burgundian expression of Pinot Noir – among some of the oldest plantings in the valley, Block Five is known to come from the first Pommard plantings in Oregon, planted at Résonance in 1981, still to this day on un-grafted vines. We find harmony, complexity and a beautiful balance on the palate.
BLOCK FOUR
Traditionally known for a more elegant touch with a soft yet pronounced presence – our Block Four was planted in 1995 to Dijon clone. Originally coming from Cote de Nuits, giving small berries with intense flavors and aromas that bring a touch of delicateness that reminds us of home.
BLOCK ONE
Block One, planted to the Wadenswil clone in 1997 – maybe the least Burgundian Pinot Noir Clone with Swiss origins, this is fascinating to us as we continue to learn more about these complex and rustic characteristics, we find darker fruits in this ‘cooler’ Pinot Noir and with the terroir of the Résonance Vineyard we see a reveal of its personality.
Each bottle is hand numbered and waxed by our winemaker to protect the cork for the long aging and presentation of this 3 bottle trilogy collection.
